Wain was founded in the 1940's in Lynn, Massachusetts (suburban Boston) as a manufacturer of eyeglass cases. Over the last five decades, the Wain family has steadily grown the business to it current status as the third largest manufacturer of eyeglass cases in the United States. The company's products are sold to sunglass manufacturers, independent optometrists, ophthalmologists and opticians, and chain eyecare retailers across the country. The company maintains a reputation for high quality, affordable products. Wain was purchased by CalOptical in November 1999.
